The Data Processing and Research Center (DPC) in Hamburg is part of the International Association for the Evaluation of Educational Achievement (IEA), a non-governmental, non-profit organization with a permanent Secretariat located in Amsterdam. The IEA conducts educational research studies worldwide. Since more than 50 years the IEA has been launching regular large-scale assessments such as the Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS) or the Progress in International Reading Literacy Study (PIRLS). The IEA also supports countries in conducting educational studies. For over fifteen years the IEA DPC has been active in the field of empirical educational research both internationally and nationally. The IEA DPC is not only involved in all IEA studies but also acts as a contractor for various scientific institutions and consortia on educational studies.
